What is Angioplasty?
Angioplasty is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to widen or unblock narrow or obstructed blood vessels, usually arteries in the heart. It involves threading a catheter with a balloon on the end through an artery to the blocked area and inflating the balloon to widen the narrowed artery. In some cases, a stent (a small mesh tube) may be left in place to help keep the artery open.
